An Ounce of Prevention at The Recovery Place

LCCS is teaming up with The Recovery Place, which is a Joint Commission-accredited addiction and dual diagnosis treatment center, to incorporate An Ounce of Prevention: A Course in Relapse Prevention© (AOOP) as a specialized residential relapse prevention track in addition to their already robust set of treatment options. The Recovery Place is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

LCCS co-founder and co-author of AOOP, John Leadem, LCSW, CSAT-S, CMAT, will be at The Recovery Place from April 8th through April 10th 2015. He will be providing specialized training to treatment team staff in the development of their AOOP track, ensuring that all participating clientele in the relapse prevention group will benefit from the full array of what this course is structured to provide.

An Ounce of Prevention: A Course in Relapse Prevention believes that relapse is never a part of recovery; it can always be prevented if the recovering addict is appropriately prepared and knowledgeable of the individualized path through the relapse process his or her relapse patterns take. It is for this reason that the AOOP course insists that an addict’s relapse prevention plan needs to be personalized, it cannot be one size fits all. This method provides addicted patients in treatment much needed hope for a recovery process that has until now been largely seen as completely unpredictable.

The staff at The Recovery Place will receive the unique training to better learn how to use an inpatient group experience to aid in the development of a client’s personalized relapse prevention plan. Once implemented, The Recovery Place clinicians will expertly teach their clients specific and measurable ways to identify and intervene on the predictable symptoms in each of their client’s personal relapse processes.
