John has co-authored and published four works designed to enhance the recovery efforts of individuals impacted by an addictive disorder and a wide array of professionals who have assumed the challenging task of providing therapeutic guidance to them. He is currently leading the LCCS team in the development of a future publication that will guide couples and their therapists through the challenges of mending romantic relationships shattered by addiction entitled: “A Decision to Be IN Love”.

John has trained hundreds of addiction intervention teams since his extensive training with Vernon Johnson 38 years ago. He has co-authored Raising the Bottom, a unique blend of traditional Johnson Intervention wisdom and a comprehensive series of task-oriented strategies that provide the interventionist with a clear framework for bringing care to the intervention team, the addict, and consultation to the treatment providers. Training is now available in national and regional venues for qualified professionals.

John is an accomplished addiction treatment program designer/director whose projects have included the design and implementation of residential facilities for treating adult and adolescent substance dependency, private and public half-way houses, long-term care facilities for the treatment of addicts suffering with chronic relapse, residential and out-patient treatment models for treating the significant others in the addicts life as primary clients, short-term detoxification programs, partial hospitalization models, information and referral centers, and therapeutic retreats and intensives.

Elaine has co-authored several works aimed at empowering recovering addicts and their families to maximize the gains they enjoy from their recovery efforts. As a seasoned retreat master she has co-designed and facilitated numerous therapeutic retreats for recovering couple that have focused on issues ranging from methods for improving intimate communication to strategies for intervening on compatible defects of character that undermine romance.

Elaine is actively engaged in the LCCS efforts to bring continuing professional education to addiction treatment providers and other mental health workers in the areas of relapse prevention, therapeutic interventions, love and sexual addiction treatment awareness and treatment strategies, conjoint treatment of couples injured by addictive disorders, methods for integrating the 12 Step treatment principles into insight oriented therapy, and modalities ranging from residential co-addiction treatment to intensive psycho-dramatic therapy for recovering couples.

In addition to her other duties as clinical director, Elaine brings a wealth of resources to clients struggling with the symptoms and consequences of trauma associated with post traumatic stress disorder, sexual abuse, childhood trauma, romantic betrayal, and parental addiction.

Shawn’s Early Recovery for Men group therapy is open to men in recovery from an addictive disorder whose concerns or focus in recovery is on identifying ways of successfully practicing the principles of recovery in all their relationships and in all settings. Group members work toward the development or enhancement of healthy attachments, boundary setting skills, communication skills, support networks, and skills for promoting sober and mutually rewarding romantic and familial relationships.

As co-author of the recently published “An Ounce of Prevention: A Course in Relapse Prevention”, Shawn demonstrates a clear understanding of the dynamic process of relapse and will help clients to unravel the mystery of the relapse process, understand personalized symptoms associated with the relapse process, and develop awareness of the problematic coping strategies that promote relapse and how to develop effective ways of coping with discomfort.

While all of our therapists are skilled at treating addiction and co-addiction, Maria has specialized training as a Certified Multiple Addictions Therapist (CMAT) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals. It is common to find that an individual or family suffering with one addiction will have been negatively impacted by other addictive disorders which necessitate the examination by a CMAT such as; substance dependency, alcoholism, financial disorders, eating disorders, sex and love addiction

All LCCS clinicians have experience working with codependency and the various co-addictive coping strategies that frequently undermine the client’s pursuit of personal fulfillment. The main areas of codependency treatment that Maria is proficient in addressing include; boundary setting, controlling behaviors and/or feeling controlled by others, guilt and shame, childhood trauma, and unhealthy relationships and patterns of hurtful attachments.

Maria’s in-depth understanding of the challenges that troubled children bring to a family system places her at the core of our treatment team’s efforts at guiding children and parents toward the development of a healthy support system for their children. The emotional demands placed on children can generate a variety of problems she will be able to help you and your child identify and address.

In addition to being a licensed social worker Shim has completed the educational training criteria of the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium, toward the certification as a counselor for alcoholism and substance abuse disorders that enables him to provide clients with; evaluation and treatment of cross-addiction, assessment for the presence of co-occurring disorders (“dual-diagnosis”) and/or underlying trauma, and resources for addressing interactive substance and process addictions.
