Maria is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Marywood University. Additionally, Maria has completed her advanced certifications in both Sexual Addiction Treatment and Multiple Addiction Treatment through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals founded by Dr. Patrick Carnes.
Her clinical career path has provided her with exposure and experience in intensive psychiatric services and inpatient chemical addiction treatment. Maria has a working knowledge of the 12-step program of recovery and freely shares the insights she has gained in recovery.
Maria has recently co presented with her colleague Shawn Leadem at the 2012 conference of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association of Social Work. Maria presented on topic near to her heart; Sex Addiction: Helping Women Over the Threshold of Shame.
