Relapse Prevention at Rutgers University

A 5 day, 10 hour, CEU course on relapse prevention at Rutgers State University’s Summer Institute of Addiction Studies. Co Presented by John Leadem, MSW, MS, CSAT-S, CMAT, Steven Liga, MSW, LCADC, LSW, CPS, CCS, and Shawn Leadem, MSW, CSAT, CMAT.

This workshop will highlight the essential elements involved in developing a relapse prevention plan that recovering addicts and co-addicts can use as an independent study course or in their professional work with an addiction treatment provider.

The relapse prevention model, now in print under the title “An Ounce of Prevention: A Course in Relapse Prevention” is authored by LCCS’s John and Shawn Leadem. The course is intended to demystify the relapse process and challenge the dangerous notion that “relapse is a part of recovery” by helping the students of the course understand the individualized strategies that can be employed to interrupt a relapse process before returning to one’s “drug of choice.”
