Leadem Training Institute
Leadem Training Institute (LTI) is a consulting service offered by Leadem Counseling & Consulting Services, LLC (LCCS). Its goal is to provide professional education in the area of addiction and trauma treatment. The curriculum has been developed to introduce clinical graduate students and clinicians credentialed to deliver individual psychotherapy in New Jersey to resources that can be used to expand the breadth and depth of their clinical skill set when working with this treatment population. The LTI curriculum begins with a core of conceptual and instructional content and will become highly individualized as the ability and needs of each candidate are identified.
The primary goal for LTI is to expand the scope of the products and resources we have available in our service Pillars to support the professional growth of our colleagues and prospective employees. It is hoped that the training experience will enhance a candidate’s ability to increase the scope of the clinical skill set and depth of care that each candidate will be able to offer the clients they serve.
The objectives could vary from one candidate to the next but the core objectives available to all candidates are identified below in each phase of the learning process. An more in-depth overview of the elements of the respective phases are provided by way of introduction.
Candidate Benefits
Candidates will have the opportunity to receive direct instruction from the author of all LCCS proprietary products and services. The candidates are free to use the insight gained during their enrollment to support the recovery efforts of addicts and their significant others. No candidate will be permitted to compete with LCCS by advertising or providing any specific product by name or content that is copyright protected by LCCS. All candidates will be permitted to guide any client through the clinical tasks presented in any LCCS copy protected program that they or the client has purchased a copy of from LCCS rather than a third-party reseller. Candidates who have completed the LTI will be offered the opportunity to purchase all publications at a discounted reseller price.
We will soon be in discussion with MSW programs in the area about the prospect of granting field internship credit to students participating in the LTI during Phase 1 of the curriculum. Conceptually we will propose that first year students who do not have previous addiction treatment experience could be enrolled in the LTI curriculum and also be given the opportunity to shadow LCCS staff in selected cases for a limited period of time during Phase 1 of the curriculum. Candidates who have made sufficient progress in the curriculum will be considered for internship placement once the Phase 1 objectives have been met provided that they have moved on to Phase 2. Graduate students with extensive addiction treatment experience prior to beginning their studies will be considered for full internship placement if they are enrolled in Phase 1 of the LTI.
Employment Opportunities
Exceptional candidates may be offered an opportunity to join the LCCS treatment team in a salaried position upon completion of his or her work in the institute. Additionally, selected candidates might be offered paid internships while completing professional development work or graduate studies while enrolled in the LTI. Candidates considered for a paid internship at LCCS can be enrolled in clinical graduate school programs who are permitted to provide individual psychotherapy under supervision or working as a credentialed therapist authorized to provide psychotherapy in New Jersey. Additionally, candidates who have completed one of our certification programs will be considered for contracted positions within LCCS in the areas of Relapse Prevention and Addiction Intervention.
Candidates enter the training program with no obligation to accept any employment offers and without expectation that one will be forthcoming. Every candidate will move through their work at their own pace and satisfactory completion of the materials will be solely determined by the LTI director.
