THIS IS A 2 CEU PRESENTATION. COMPLETE 3 DAY CONFERENCE IS A 20 CEU EVENT.

Event Description:

Often misunderstood and untreated, the problem of sexual addiction is one that is frequently present but often missed, even in those clients presenting for treatment of other addictions and substance dependency. Additionally, practice wisdom suggests that untreated sexual addiction will greatly increase any addict’s risk for relapse into his or her “primary” addiction.

Participants in this training will have the opportunity to join together with LCCS therapists Shawn Leadem, LCSW, CSAT and Shim Frankel, LCSW, CSAT as they team up with NASW New Jersey Chapter’s 2015 conference titled “Creating a Culture of Collaboration” to bring their collective sex addiction treatment experience to the broader professional audience in this specialized two hour presentation. Participants will be offered a framework for identifying the behavioral indicators of sex addiction, including an understanding of the arousal template and “the 10 types” of sexually compulsive behavior. The inclusion of case material and exercises based on clinical knowledge and experience will enhance the depth of this didactic material. Participants will be introduced to resources that can support their efforts to motivate their clients to address the threats to sober living that untreated sex addiction pose.

Course Objective:

The purpose of this course is to provide healthcare professionals the information necessary to conduct a thorough sexual history to determine if sexual addiction is present in clients seeking treatment.
